The company was founded by Istio co-creator Varun Talwar and is focused on building the next-generation of application networking technology.
The funding will be used to strengthen Tetrate’s technology stack, expand its engineering and customer success teams, and invest in marketing and sales efforts. Tetrate aims to become the leading cloud-native application networking platform with its ability to bridge traditional networking models with modern cloud-native architectures.
The platform enables customers to secure, monitor, and manage their cloud-native applications and services by providing a suite of cloud-native networking technologies, including service mesh, ingress controller, and service mesh operator. Tetrate’s technology stack is designed to support the full lifecycle of cloud-native applications and services, from development to deployment and management.
Tetrate’s Series A funding round also brought in a number of strategic investors, including Mirantis, Microsoft Ventures, Google Cloud Platform, and SAP. In addition, the company’s founding team includes well-known industry veterans, such as Cisco’s Raghu Ranganathan, Aparna Sinha (formerly of Google Cloud Platform), and Matt Klein (creator of the Envoy proxy).
